It is always nice to be back every year in the Pink City. Bookaroo’s annual excursion to one of India’s most beautiful cities became possible thanks to the Jawahar Kala Kendra’s staunch support.
In short, it is Bookaroo time once again in Jaipur.
Twenty-seven authors, illustrators, storytellers and performers from 12 cities are all set to delight children and parents alike in Jaipur with some scintillating storytelling, workshops, drama, art & craft and books at the 3rd edition of Bookaroo, India’s first children’s literature festival.
Two days of non-stop fun with books will unfold as Jawahar Kala Kendra brings you the most exciting children’s literary event ever. The festival will showcase 51 sessions for children between 4 and 14 over the weekend on January 12th and 13th, 2019.

Concentration and visualization: Even before telling the story to the audience run the story in front of your eyes, as if watching a movie. Voice work: Sound is an effective tool that captivates the audience but silence, surprisingly, plays an equally important role. A good balance of sound and silence is important. Word pictures: Each word has a meaning and put together are pictures by themselves. Riddles and images act as starting points to keep the story going. |

| 1:30 PM – 4:10 PM | Gestures: Gestures add a lot of colour to the telling, but do not overdo them as the storyline could get lost. Music: Music cuts the monotony of the telling and gets back the audience who may have, for some reason, been distracted. Music quickly sets the mood for the scene. Improvisation: Be aware of the response of the audience and move ahead accordingly. Audience participation: The best way to keep the audience on its toes is by inviting them to participate. The story should informally - not forcefully - involve them. Costume, mask, make-up: Use costumes, masks and make-up only if you are skilful enough. If you are not sure, avoid it for it could turn out to be disastrous. |
