Authors Bio 

 

  1. ADELINE FOO is a pioneer of children’s book writing in Singapore and the winner of a number of literary awards.
  2. ADITHI & CHATURA RAO are writers, film makers and sisters. They have now written a book together.
  3. ANAND PRAKASH is an award winning designer creating a variety of hand crafted merchandise with recycled and wood-free paper.
  4. ANITA ROY is commissioning editor with Young Zubaan. She is also a writer and critic whose works have appeared in publications in India and abroad.
  5. ARJUN KAUL & PRITHVI, the band. Arjun is the vocalist and guitarist of the Delhi based band, Prithvi. They explore the magic of jazz, pop and rock.
  6. ATANU ROY is one of India’s most versatile illustrators and has illustrated over a hundred books. His forte is creating paintings and not mere illustrations.
  7. CAMPFIRE is a graphic novel publisher creating books with the young and young at heart, driven by the aim of putting the fun back into reading.
  8. CHRISTOPHER CHENG is an Australian writer whose books often explore the magic of legends and the colourful world of wildlife and nature.
  9. DEEPA AGARWAL has written more than forty books for children. She tirelessly promotes children’s books and has received several prestigious awards for her writing.
  10. DEEPA BALSAVAR is a storyteller who draws from first hand experiences to encourage children to think about social issues.
  11. DEVDUTT PATTANAIK’s books on Hindu mythology bring alive the fascinating world of gods, goddesses and demons through words and illustrations.
  12. GREGORY HUGHES is an award winning British writer of fiction for teenagers.
  13. HELEN RUNDGREN is a Swedish zoologist, television and radio producer with a passion for dinosaurs.
  14. JEEVA RAGHUNATH is a teacher, writer and storyteller who tells her tales in three languages – French, English and Tamil. Her repertoire includes folk tales, true-life, cross cultural and modern stories.
  15. JERRY PINTO is a journalist and poet who enjoys both writing and doing interactive sessions with children.
  16. JOHN DOUGHERTY is an Irish poet, singer and song-writer whose humorous books delight children everywhere.
  17. JOSE LOUIES is a naturalist and wildlife expert who trains wildlife personnel in the jungles of Kerala and loves talking about snakes.
  18. KUNZANG CHODEN is a writer and storyteller from Bhutan. She enjoys introducing readers to her unique Himalayan world.
  19. LOVLEEN MISHRA is a writer/ actress who works with street children and children with special needs through Theatre in Education.
  20. MALIKA DORAY is a French writer and illustrator whose work with toddlers led to a series of books for young ones.
  21. MARGARET READ MACDONALD is a popular American storyteller of traditional folk tales from around the world.
  22. MARINA BOLLAIN is a Spanish actress and singer who recounts stories through song, taking her listeners on a journey full of adventure.
  23. MARTIN WIDMARK is an award winning Swedish writer who also works with the children of immigrants.
  24. PARO ANAND is an award winning author of children’s books. She is associated with the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, working with children who have been impacted by terrorist violence.
  25. PARNAB MUKHERJEE is an independent media analyst and performance consultant who is a leading alternative theatre director. His work often showcases human right issues.
  26. POILE SENGUPTA is a writer, poet and playwright who has written popular musicals performed by children all across India.
  27. PRASHANI RAMBUKWELLA is a writer and playwright from Sri Lanka. Her first book for children won the Gratien Award.
  28. PRAYAG SHUKLA is a well known poet, art critic, editor and author of books of Hindi fiction for adults and children. He has won a Sahitya Akademi translation prize.
  29. PREMOLA GHOSE is a self-taught artist who has been painting and
    exhibiting for several years. Her illustrations have appeared in several books.
  30. PRIYA KURIYAN is an illustrator and animation film designer whose forte is the visual art of story telling.
  31. RAGINI SIRUGURI & SADHANA RAMCHANDER is a mother/ daughter team. At the age of ten Ragini illustrated her mother Sadhana’s book of poetry for children.
  32. RAMENDRA KUMAR is an award winning writer of books that have been translated into several Indian languages as well as Spanish, Japanese, Mongolian and Sinhala.
  33. SAMHITA ARNI is a writer, editor and script writer who focuses on Hindu mythology and epics like the Mahabharata and Ramayana. Her first book was published when she was just 12.
  34. SANDHYA GANDHI VAKIL is a storyteller and translator who can work magic with paper.
  35. SANDHYA RAO is Senior Editor at Tulika Publishers. She writes, edits, translates and tries to reach books in many languages to children.
  36. SANGITA MENON is a storyteller who weaves in emotions, situations and images to capture the imagination of children.
  37. SATOSHI KITAMURA is an award winning Japanese illustrator, writer and designer whose forte is water colours and unusual perspectives.
  38. SHAMINI FLINT is a former lawyer turned writer from Malaysia, now living in Singapore, who writes for children of all ages. She is a keen sports enthusiast and environmental activist.
  39. SHWETA MOHAPATRA is an illustrator and designer. A graduate of the National Institute of Design, she runs her design studio in Delhi.
  40. SIGRUN SRIVASTAVA is a writer, artist and sculptor whose dramatic and powerful stories are very popular with children.
  41. STEVE BARLOW & STEVE SKIDMORE are the British double act popularly known as the ‘2Steves’. They have written 130 books together.
  42. SUBHADRA SEN GUPTA enjoys making the past come alive through her historical fiction, dreaming up mysteries and scripting comic books.
  43. SUDDHASWATTA BASU is an award winning painter, illustrator and animation film maker.
  44. SWETHA PRAKASH is an award winning writer whose books are influenced by traditional Indian myths and philosophy.
  45. TAPAS GUHA enjoys the lively art of comic books and his forte is adding colour and movement to a narrative.
  46. TAPOSHI GHOSHAL is an illustrator and designer who has held a solo exhibition of her illustrations.
  47. VALENTINA TRIVEDI makes films, writes scripts for documentaries and advertising copy. She loves telling stories to children and making them laugh.
  48. VIKY ARYA is a poet, sculptor, author and illustrator. An advertising professional, she has won several awards.
  49. VINITA KRISHNA is a writer, teacher and special educator – what does this mean? Her multi-sensorial books have won international acclaim.

  1. ATANU ROY illustrates and designs books and his forte is changing his styles and adding a whacky humour to the narrative.
  2. BINDIA THAPAR is an architect by training and illustrator by choice. She is best known for her drawings for children.
  3. JAGDISH JOSHI is a doyen of illustration for children. He worked for the Children’s Book Trust andwon the Noma Concourse award of Japan.
  4. PRIYA KURIYAN is an illustrator and animation film designer whose forte is the visual art of story telling.
  5. PULAK BISWAS is a leading artist and children’s book illustrators in India. He has won many awards including an UNESCO fellowship.
  6. SONALI BISWAS is among the new talent in illustrations for children and has won plaudits for her work.
  7. SUDDHASATTWA BASU is a painter, illustrator and animation film maker who created the first Indian animated serial for television.
  8. SUJASHA DASGUPTA is a graduate of the College of Art, Delhi and works in different mediums.
  9. SUJATA SINGH illustrates and designs books and has also held exhibitions of her paintings.
  10. TAPOSHI GHOSHAL works as an illustrator and designer. She has held a solo exhibition of her illustrations.
  11. VANDANA BIST both writes and illustrates books. She was won the Noma award from Japan and the Katha award.
