If Bookaroo Srinagar was a delectable Haiku, Bookaroo Delhi was a beautiful sonnet.

The freshness, energy and enthusiasm are a surprise, in the space they open – conscious and unconscious fragments gather. Stories assert. Children, careless and carefree, play.

Bookaroo inspired me to finally write a couple of stories which have been on the back burner for a while.

It was wonderful to have a chance to interact with so many children through Bookaroo in the City and also meet some very talented folks! Thank you for bringing this one-o-f-a-kind event to Delhi !"
Tapas Guha
Give the kids one chance to be creative and they grab it with both hands. They are so used to grown ups telling them what to do....so when they find that some things can be done just for fun and not to worry about the consequences, they drown themselves in the activity! It was simply a great experience.

It was my first time in India and I have to say that I was impressed by the country and the people. But the festival was the jewel in the Indian crown. It was a fun-fair of friendliness where the organisers’ passion for literature was matched only by the children’s interest in heroes, villains, and the hard to decipher. I felt uplifted by it. I always will do.

Think this year's Bookaroo was the best so far. I look forward to it all year long but then when we actually walk in through the gate and see the Banyan Tree, the big Bookaroo sign, the Eureka bookstore and authors running around, I get goosebumps all over again.
I loved the surprises like the Spanish lady, Marina Bollain, whose painted umbrellas and castanets and amazing voice transfixed us all even the teen-agers. It moves me that in this age of ipods and pads and phones that kids can still be moved by authentic beauty and creativity. They kept talking about John Dougherty and Gregory Hughes and Parnab Mukherjee’s performance of Hind Swaraj which left us all silenced and near tears. I don't think the kids had ever experienced anything like it.

"Bookaroo is the most booktacular, fantastical, grooviest and bookarooviest festival around! More fun than a barrel of monkeys, more magical than a Sorting Hat, and crazier than a Delhi driving instructor! Big thanks to you and the British School for inviting me - I hope you'll have me back again!"

Here’s to all Bookaroos – past, present and future! I only wish we had something like it in Bangalore.

The festival was remarkable. My favourite part was telling to the families under the banyan tree…. Oh no!... My favourite part was telling in the story pit to all those great adult supporters and older kids who all jumped up and sang and danced along with my stories! Or was it that fun school day with the kids on the lawn…
Well I just loved it all.

The Bookaroo Schools’ Day at Sanskriti Kendra, was a fantastic day out for our younger children. Payal a student of Gr. III said looking at the dinosaur's fossil tooth " Dekho Dinosaur ka ithna baadha Daathath" (Look how BIG the dinosaur's tooth is !) Saloni, Gr. III looking at the robotic dinosaur " ye toh zinda hai" (Oh, this is alive)

I think the children of Delhi are truly lucky to have a festival like Bookaroo. I wish you would consider organising one in Sri Lanka too! What an amazing experience!

I think I would like to be
Living near the Kahani Tree,
To hear stories all day long,
Some big, some short and some in song,
There would be books everywhere
To own, to read, with friends to share;
We would be then as happy as kings
In a world full of magical things.

So many more authors, illustrators, storytellers.... so many, many more children and adults.... so many more events. I loved the Doodle Wall space this time. And I think I actually recognised some children I had seen way back in 2008, all growing up and still fired up!

When I think of Bookaroo:
The first thing that comes to mind is not books but fun. I surprisingly think of music and books as one.
I think of the new and exciting things that are bound to happen each year.
I think of the Eureka Bookstore and the fun that we had going through the hidden "treasure".
I think how one single book can make you think that it was written for you or someone you know.
I think of the really special opportunity to get to know authors personally.
I think of "BOOKS AND YAHOO!!!"

I simply enjoyed Bookaroo, I wish I could have stayed for a longer time.

We were delighted with the authors who visited and with Schools’Day. Bookaroo is exactly the type of event that The British School likes to be associated with. Congratulations on an outstanding series of literary experiences for the children of Delhi.
Alison Davenport, German School
I thoroughly enjoyed each of the Bookaroo days- as a teacher, a volunteer and a mum respectively!
I love everything to do with children and books and shops and publishing so to be involved in your venture is always a treat.
The event is very valuable to Delhi - you are wonderful to do this for Delhi children!

Bookaroo made me wish that I could be a child again. The sheer awesomeness of sitting just a few feet away from your beloved authors as they take you on magical journeys into their books and characters cannot be put into words. And it’s not just authors that one loves and knows. My 7 year old son discovered two new authors and their books at Bookaroo - and is now hooked on to them.
At a time when the world constantly laments that the young don't read anymore, events like Bookaroo are ensuring that the love for books lives in the heart of our children.
Thank you Bookaroo! Eagerly looking forward to Bookaroo 2012.
