Bookaroo is a Charitable
Trust based in New Delhi, India committed to bringing children
and books together. We are a loose collective of booklovers, publishers,
booksellers and writers who believe that books are fun and books
are for everyone.
Bookaroo held India’s first festival of children’s
literature in Delhi in 2008.
Bookaroo promotes book related events working in tandem with
internationally renowned writers, illustrators, story tellers,
theatre people, publishers, editors and schools.
Our future plans include an annual Bookaroo festival of children’s
literature and Bookaroo in the City, where book related activities
are held in schools. We will encourage creative on-line activities
through our website and will compile a directory of the best children’s
books in India.

The
First Festival of Children’s Literature
India’s first ever children’s literature festival
started in 2008 with a week-long extravaganza of book related
events around the city culminating in a two days festival at Sanskriti
Anandgram in Delhi.
Over 3000 children, their parents and teachers enjoyed story
telling, impromptu theatre, creative workshops, museum tours and
nature walks. They browsed in a bookshop and discovered a whacky
children’s magazine.
Bookaroo
in the City
The celebrations spread its wings across Delhi as we also organised
book related events in Government schools in collaboration with
Pratham Books, Delhi.
